Bootleg
Singles
You might have it guessed that there are not only bootlegs
in
LP or CD format available, but also some single releases were made by
nifty
bootleggers. This part should be seen as an addition to the "Zappapatio" page,
where you'll find more informations about these singles. If you know
any more
about these, any others like them, mail me.

Side A:
- My Name Is Fritz
Side B:
- My Name Is Fritz (continued)
This item was released at least in two different variants, with a
booklet (100 numbered copies), and without (450 copies). The source "Voigt's New Collector's Price Guide For Bootlegs (1991)"
states that those 450 copies are numbered, too, but there also exists
not numbered ones. Also note that there are also variations in the
color of the "inner" known.
If this single was released in 1983 is debatable, since the "year"
given on the labels could also be the (false/typo) registration number
for the matrices
used for production. [EDITOR'S NOTE]: I remember having seen popping up this item on
flea-markets and record shows quite after 1983, perhaps around 1986 in
Germany. My copy is not numbered in any way.
The unnumbered version without the booklet was sold in a single
clear protective cover. The sleeve is actually a double sized printed
sheet (which is probably what people sometimes refer to as "insert"),
simply fold and
stuck in the protective coat. The single itself has an extra white
unprinted
inner sleeve.
"My Name Is Fritz" is the same recording as "German Lunch" on the
2CD set "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore - Vol.5", but appears to be
a longer, more complete version than the official 'radio play'. Maybe
unedited?
More info can be found at the "Zappapatio",
inclusive a transcription of the plot. Pictures are here.

Side A:
- Hungry Freaks, Daddy
(3:25) [both taken from the "Freak Out!"
album]
Side B:
- Trouble Every Day (6:16)
This is a picture disc, shaped like the contour of the picture. Both
songs are the Freak Out! album versions, but with lots of crackling
noises,
as usual for those picture discs...
There are some hints given about its production country, like
"S.D.R.M.", which is the France authorisation organisation "Société pour
l'administration du Droit de Reproduction Mécanique",
supervising the rights for mechanical duplication of copyrighted
material (SACEM).
The photo on the B-side was shot by Günter Zint, a german
photographer who shot a lot of photos of music artists in the sixties,
especially in
Hamburg and surrounding cities (i.e. Star Club). The credit given to
him
on this disc, "PAN/G. Zint", is
his
own photo agency since 1964.
[EDITOR'S NOTE]:The graphics on the
A-side are credited to "irma", but unfortunately I can't trace for sure
the agency responsible for this. There are a lot of "Irmas" around...
More info can be found at the "Zappapatio".

Side B:

The disc claims to be a "Special Limited Edition - Produced for
Luxor Company Madrid - Spain", but this company seems non-existant.
The misspelling of the title, "Vallary", continues on the label,
saying "Vallerie". It seems that a lot of people have difficulties with
her name.... 8-)
The bootleggers seem to have been specialized on singles, a little
bit of research on the internet uncovers some of their products of
other artists.
More info can be found at the "Zappapatio".

The big note:
Like most of you I, too, have a regular life and have to go to work
each day, so
do not expect updates on a daily basis, nor a prompt reply to e-mails.
Just
give me a little bit of time. And then there´s always the
question of violation of copyrights. If you think that my pages contain
material
which I´m not allowed to include because of its protected status,
please drop me an e-mail,
and I will
remove the doubtful parts. On the other hand I regard all material
within my pages as protected by copyright laws, too, so please ask
before you steal. I´m sure we can work something out.
